Darkest Ocean

So, another year, another Game Jam. This years theme was "Wave" so I made a game where you have to save as much cargo as possible, a no brainer for an idea. Surprisingly, I did not had to rush the game too. It was done when there were about 5 hours left. And I haven't slept for only one night too!
Another thing different in LT game jam was that this year there were no presentations of created games, but trailers instead. It really saved some time, where before each game team had to go to computer play the game and speak about it (have in mind that if game was made for mac, mobile or VR platform it would took even more time). And since we were made to create trailers for the game created, that means I can share the gameplay faster. So here ya go. Trailer of "Darkest Ocean"!
And for those who want to download it and compete in leaderboards, you can download it here (Windows only, HTML5 doesn't work well with physics, so that kinda falls out).

Challenged By The Gods

Another year has passed (or few when looking at this blog) - another Game Jam game was created. This time at GGJ 2016 with a theme "Ritual". Taking it directly, me and my team created sand-boxy game called "Challenged by the Gods" about a priest who must teach his tribesmen to follow a healthy lifestyle by performing tasks in a routine. Also, this priest must figure out, that routine first, doing that right, he gains "ritual points". But everything is not that easy, because gods have their wishes too. If a priest does not follow them, gods will destroy whole tribe, but doing those tasks sets priest's routine away, losing him "ritual points". So player must choose it's focus to make world a better place, if there will be any world at all after a week.
Game is not finished, three days are done for player to have a taste difficulty of a priest life. You can get compiled project HERE.

Deploy 'n Charge

This weekend I attended Live Mobile Congress conferention and there was 2D puzzle game 24h Gamejam. This is what my team came up to in the end. A tetris like strategy game named "Deploy 'n Charge". Gameplay is rather simple, you have to beat all enemy troops with your ones. Rules are that Pikeman beats Knight, Knight beats Archer and Archer beats Pikeman. Of course you have limited amount of troops and you must deploy them in a shape, provided to you in each turn. It is not finished, but you try the game HERE. It also has a facebook page, which you can find HERE. We're planning to finish this game, by adding campaign mode along with arcade one (this also includes fixing bugs of current release)

Stepping into 3D modeling

After a big struggle against my free time and myself I finally finished something show able. "Drum_roll.mp3" .......... C.O.G. organization nano mage, alien, don't know the name of race, will think about that later.
Model is RTS unit size, or at least I think it is. It has 1166 tris; texture, normal and illumination maps. Left to rig it and put some animations. Made with blender and rendered with Unity.
So far I can say that it is quite fun to model, but UV unwrapping, rigging or dealing with Blender is not much fun. Probably would have done a month ago, but normal maps refused to bake as expected and made me to take a break. In the end, used faulty normal maps edited with photoshop.

P.S. Yes, this is a model for new "Achar Chronicles" game.

Pixel Man - The Scourge of Blobs

Figured that I haven't posted here for ages, so just to show, that I haven't died, I'll share some news here.
First of all, I'm learning 3D art, so that goes modeling, animating and of course making 3D games. I have few models made, maybe I'll share them in few weeks.
With all that, started to work on a 3D game. Actually, remaking Proditor from 2D to 3D. Mostly because wanted to try something new. Planning to use Unity 3D game engine, since I got familiar with it.
Also made a few games in that time. Nothing special, mostly trying some new stuff. For example "Pixel Man". Semi 3D Pac-Man like game, walk around, coolect coins, kill enemies, when have upgrade. Only one level, but feel free to try: Download Link

P.S. I like image effects, so please don't judge :)

The Endless Night

This weekend I took part in Global Game Jam. It's objective was to create a game in 48 hours (including sleep). After a struggle with myself, I managed to finish it in a last hour.
It's an adventure game (oh noes, who could have though?) in medieval setting. Resolution is quite low 320x240, so that makes it's my first completed pixel game! Story is about an adventurer named Gintvilas, who is stuck in the mystical manor. Character is stuck in a loop, which sociates with GGJ theme. Your objective is to escape that house.
This is a short game, with original backgrounds and sprites. Music was done by Paulius Michalovskis. You can download the game here.

Achar Chronicles: Proditor

My second game in Achar Chronicles series is "Proditor" which translates to traitor. In this game you play as Regor Witrial, a diplomat from C.O.G., and his sister Kataya Witrial (the same person you saw/will see in Roger's Quest II) are taken as a prisoners by G.S.G. The main objective is to escape of course, but it's not that easy, because there is more than physical prison.
This is my first pixel game. I started it long time ago, but it was on hold for some time. Since I finished with papers, I managed to make this game into "showable" state. Though don't know when I'll finish it, but I guess it won't be soon. Game resolution is 320x200 which is quite low, but I find this stile quite interesting and cute.

Small game for start.

It's hard to find some free time lately. School, filling papers for university and SKYRIM takes much time. But I have found one weekend (kinda), and wanted to try something new. So I found this engine, well "re-found" actually, because it was mentioned in a book about 3D games creating, that I bought long time ago. So this engine: 3D rad, simple and free stuff. After playing with it for a bit, I came to conclusion, that it's best fitted for racing games. And then various ideas came to my head. I'll make a racing game. Sci-fi one, probably with shooting, something similar to "Star Wars Racer" or "Safari Biathlon Racer". Also I'm planning to add a little storyline in Achar galaxy (C.O.G. and G.S.G. clashes) for more interesting gameplay. Everything is in plans of course and there is little hope to be done, but there is goal.  Today I made a small racing game. it has no menu or something, just a small circuit and 3 opponents to race with without any objective. It was made for learning purposes, but it's fun thing to play too : ) I called it "TOKS kietas game" which means: such an awesome game. That was first words that came into my head when I needed to compile this thing.

You can download it  here!

If you're running vista/7 it's likely that you'll need this and this.

To pixelate or not to pixelate....

While browsing trough AGS created games, I noticed that most games are low resolution. That made me think about adventure games in general. You don't have to be a genius, to realize, that adventure games "golden age" was about last decade of XX century. Because of technology, most games were low resolution. So I'm thinking if I should go to small resolution as well. This is my first try to do pixel sprite in low (20x50) resolution.
This is Roger, as it will be seen in Roger's Quest II with C.O.G. uniform. There was no place to draw glasses though, it looked more like a Zorro mask.... You can compare this uniform with Kate's, which was shown in previous post.

Taking a break...

Hmm...It seems that all my inspiration has vanished. Can't think anything interesting/original lately. I guess I'll put all my projects to a pause for some time. I used to create everything as a hobbie, but now, it became more like a work. Heh, I just don't feel any enjoyment. Maybe everything will be OK again after few weeks : ) I guess I'll read some books, try to create a song (not a soundtrack), watch a movie, etc.

P.S. I got used adding pictures here, so I'll add one here too. This one Roger, from Sign of the Butterfly. I believe that was my start of creation : )

"I just need to remember"

Decided to try something new. Now I'm gonna create a 2D action/RPG game titled "I just need to remember". After spending some time searching for engines, I found Engine001, which is pretty good.
Game will be connected with old Lithuanian religion, history. Action will take place in XII century. On your left you can see the main character of the game - Gintvilas. Don't know when I'm going to finish this, but be patient, it will be released, probably.

Oblitus is released.

After a month of hard work (I really mean that) Oblitus is finally done. I made this game only in a month, which is pretty amazing, lol.

Oblitus came out as a short and easy game, easier than Roger's Quest, but that doesn't make this game bad. You can probably beat game in 20 minutes or even faster, but that 20 won't be boring. I think most of you will enjoy this, well at least I did, it's fun to play. If you liked this game, you can support by donating, button over there ---->

Music was created by Pavel Michalovski, the same man who made music for RQ. It is well made and really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

Oblitus - In Development

Oblitus (Forgotten - from Latin) is a game for MAGS competition. game will be done in a month ( according to rules), so I'll release it in beginning of July.
It is a spin-off from Roger's Quest II, because action takes in a same galaxy, a bit before than RQ II (about 250 years from now). You will play as Eren Tersong,  a soldier/scientist of G.S.G. organization (Great States of Galaxy). Who will be left alone in a planet, due an alien attack.
It will 640x480 resolution, with verb coin GUI (like in Monkey Island 3).

"Official" news about RQ II soon.

After a few days I will add a proper description about upcoming game. In Left you can see Kate. She will be main supporting character in the game.
I should have a rough demo in a few days and an actual demo in a middle of a summer. It will include GUI tutorial (not started yet), about 8 rooms, mini game and an intro to main storyline.
In general wait for a very awesome game, that will change your life and thoughts about free games :)

Roger's new design

More news about Roger's Quest II. I finally finished Roger's new design (a small spoiler, Roger will have two uniforms, so this is the first one). Character is HD, though you won't see that in game, because game resolution will be 640x480.
I think I'll release Demo in summer. There you'll see how new GUI looks (quite original idea,I must say), detailed backgrounds, maybe a mini-game and other  Roger's uniform.

Roger's Quest - now in stores!!!

I'm joking of course ;D

I thought that it would be a shame to lost this game, in case of computer troubles so i decided to write it to CD.
Because I'm too lazy to fill my printer, I drew cover with pencil, it came out better than I expected.

Roger's Quest 2 - in heavy development

More than a week I've been working on a sequel of Roger's Quest. RQ 2 will be longer and more serious and it'll sci-fi theme. I'll continue it with AGS so it will be adventure game, but with some RPG elements, like simple exp/stat system and JRPG style combat. In the end, it should be a lot longer, better quality (though resolution is smaller), fully voice acted with some sand-box features.

Composer from RQ 1 have joined today to this project. He'll be working on music and maybe on backgrounds.

More news will be posted here, so stay tuned.

Kęstutis - The last pagan duke

It's a history and lithuania pagan mythology based movie about Duke KÄ™stutis. Took some time to finish it, quite long (7 min). It is in lithuanian (to feel spirit of old Lithuania) and has enlish subtitles.

Roger's Quest

Automatically locking doors can be a problem, especially when you don't have a key. But it seems that doors was only a small challenge compared with new problems for Roger after he gets out from room.

This is first game that I have created with AGS. Nice graphics, cutcenes, and jokes won't make you to regret your time spent.

Sign of the Butterfly

Dropped project. Quite boring to watch because no story details are revealed. This is a first work with Anime Studio. Fully voice acted (subtitled), original music and storyline.
